Hiring Process
Here’s what is most important to us in our hiring process:
- It needs to be efficient, and could be done within a couple weeks.
- It needs to remove any unconscious bias we might have.
Here’s what the process looks like for a non-engineering role:
- A first call with one of our founders or team, focusing mostly on aptitude for the role
- A 2nd call entirely focused on ensuring you are aligned with Airbyte's values, the culture interview
- Depending on the role, there will be 1 or 2 additional interviews with team members
- If we decide to move forward, we will do either:
- a written interview - here are several reasons why we're big fans of this kind of interview, the main reason being that it removes a lot of the bias people might have during live interviews ; plus, we mostly work asynchronously nowadays. -
- a 1-hour panel interview where you will be tasked to do a presentation on a particular topic in front of 4 interviewers.
- Once all of this is done, we will discuss the process internally and get back to you quickly (velocity is everything here!). So about two or three calls and one written/panel interview, and that's it!
- We recognize that interviewing is a two-way street where we both mutually learn about each other. During each step in the process, we will always reserve time to discuss anything you’re curious about and answer any questions you have about Airbyte and/or our team. Please ask questions!
Now, here’s how the process goes for an engineering role:
- A first call with one of our founders or team, focusing on two key areas:
- Ensuring you will be a great cultural fit
- Aptitude for the role
- Two to three “onsite” interviews with some members of our engineering team. In all transparency, the more interviews you have, the more you should consider that there are things we still need to validate, as we’re not entirely sure.
- A last call with the second co-founder. Again, in all transparency, this interview’s goal is to see if you would add to our culture, and to convince you to join!
- We recognize that interviewing is a two-way street where we both mutually learn about each other. During each step in the process, we will always reserve time to discuss anything you’re curious about and answer any questions you have about Airbyte and/or our team. Please ask questions!
