We encourage teams to come together in person once or twice a year, at the team’s discretion. Team offsites are an opportunity for individual teams to collaborate, strengthen relationships, and find inspiration to make progress on team projects and initiatives. These offsites are designed for core working groups rather than large organizations, though we leave it up to team leads to plan the most valuable experience. If you’re part of a 1-person team, you’re welcome to coordinate trips with teams you work closely with.
When planning offsites, we encourage you to consider where most team members are based. For example, if the majority of the team is near a particular hub, hosting the offsite there can help save time and costs. In some cases, team members may face visa restrictions. In such situations, we’ll do our best to support planning a location that works for everyone, which may include a neighboring country to the majority.
Teams will take the lead in organizing their own offsites, with support from the People Team to help coordinate logistics. Collaboration and input from team managers will be essential throughout the planning process. There should also be one designated trip lead to handle finer details with the People Team, such as booking workspace locations or selecting restaurants.
