We strive for a fair and effective compensation strategy. This implies:

  1. We believe your compensation should be based on your experience, abilities, and the impact you have on Airbyte.
  2. All employees should have some equity in the company. If you contribute to its success, you should also benefit from it.
  3. We publish salary ranges on our careers page.

Equity through Stock Options

As part of your compensation, you will receive some equity (ISOs for US-based and NSOs for non-US-based team members) with a standard 1-year cliff, and a total vesting period of 4 years with a monthly vesting schedule. Broadly, the amount of options will depend on your role and experience.

We may need some time after you start to get your option grant on paper / into Carta (equity management platform) because we submit requests to our legal team in quarterly batches, but your options begin to vest on your official start date (no probation period required), with a 1-year cliff. Once the documents are finalized, your vesting start date will match your official start date. We appreciate your patience!

Rewarding Impact

In our effort to build a meritocracy, we reward Airbyters for the impact they deliver to the company. Every quarter, we invite managers to nominate team members they feel had a significant and sustained amount of impact on the team and company. The nominations are reviewed and approved by the executive team, and we issue rewards in the form of compensation increases or promotions. Because we are not a title-driven company, we don’t distinguish between the type of reward an individual received - we celebrate everyone and their impact equally.


U.S.: If you plan on relocating to a different state than you were hired in for more than 2 months, please notify your manager and the People Team team in advance to ensure we can employ you in your new state without complications. International: If you plan on relocating to a country outside the country you were hired in, we will do our best to accommodate your move, however, we cannot guarantee we can employ you in a country outside of the one you were hired in.


Please notify your manager and [email protected] if you intend to work outside of the US state or country you were hired in for more than 2 months. We will do our best to accommodate your request but we cannot guarantee approval for a duration of more than 2 months outside of your home base, and we may require proof of work authorization in any country outside of the one you were hired in if you intend to stay for more than 2 months.

If you spend more than 8 months from your home base, we will adjust your pay according to your location at the end of the 8 months.

If you have many destinations planned over a period of more than 8 months, we will factor in the location of the various places you plan to stay, averaged by the amount of time spent.

If you are uncertain about where you'll be traveling and you will be traveling for over 8 months, then your pay will remain the same throughout the 8 months. At the end of the 8 months, we will manually adjust your next pay amount based on the average of the 8 months you traveled. This will take place every 8 months until you have completed your travels.

If this adjustment to your income would require us to reclaim more than your entire pay amount (for example, if you moved from one of the most expensive areas in the world to one of the least expensive areas), we would work with you on how quickly the amount is reclaimed.
